Tui Na Massage
Tui Na, or Chinese massage therapy as it sometimes called, is a massage system underpinned by the same medical and philosophical framework as acupuncture and herbal medicine. It works via the manipulation of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. The techniques used are also applied to specific acu-points and/or meridians.
All Tui Na treatments are performed through clothing and range from light and subtle to strong, physical manipulations.
Tui Na can be stimulating, or deeply relaxing and can be used for general well being or for more specific therapeutic needs, all with the aim or harmonising and re-balancing the flow of Qi, while also treating physical manifestations such as tight and knotted muscle.
The benefits of tuina, and its clinical applications are quite diverse, often being employed in the treatment of differing musculo-skeletal conditions (sprains, strains and trauma) through to stress, anxiety and insomnia.
The overall effect of Tui Na is one of deep relation and patients often leave feeling this way even after deep, therapeutic treatments.
